USPS – Reloadaing components schenanigans

I received this from a friend who is just getting into reloading and has been buying from RMR.

My girlfriend runs a business from home, she has for over a decade, and the lack of knowledge of USPS employees about their policies and regulations is amazing. I can’t count the number of times she has had to teach them their own policies and regulations.

I often get a “final notice” with no previous notice or the “sorry we missed you notice” because our carrier is too lazy to come to the house. They funny thing is, with my girlfriend working from home there is always someone home. I’ve been out in the yard when the letter carrier drives by and find the “sorry we missed you notice” a minute after they have gone by. Calling the local post office doesn’t work so I call the Washington DC office and file an official complaint, that seems to work better.

Rocky Mountain Reloading

Just received this email from a customer. Needless to say I am pretty upset about this and I will be contacting somebody about maybe punishing the people involved. -

“I just wanted to thank you for not only the excellent product your organization offers, but also the reasonable rates and your fast turn around times. I will be a customer for a long time to come.

I did however want to let you know that the post office never delivered the two packages you paid to have shipped to me. They held the packages at the local post office branch without ever notifying me. After 6 days with no delivery or contact from the post office and tracking information that specified that the packages were out for delivery on Saturday April 27th, I decided to visit the local branch and inquire as to the status of my packages.

The post office were holding my packages pending an investigation by a postal inspector. Apparently they suspected that you had shipped me loaded cartridges, not just projectiles. Even more troubling, they did not know the difference between bullets and ammunition. After arguing with the postal employees and agreeing to opening the packages so that they could see that they contained no primers or propellants, they allowed me to take my 6,000 precious projectiles home. They did however advise me that I am “still under investigation”, whatever that means.

I wish I could say that this is an isolated incident, however I cannot. I have three friends that I referred to your site (each ordering 1,000-3,000 projectiles) whose packages experienced the same situation, at different post offices, in different parts of the Phoenix metropolitan area. We in no way blame your company for these inconveniences, however we are somewhat hesitant to order again as we do not want to experience the same hassle at the post office.

Have you heard of the post office doing this with your packages before? Perhaps this is a knee jerk reaction due to recent events in Boston and Newtown? Is there anything you can do to clearly identify that the packages contain no hazardous materials?

Additionally, I hope that you contact the post office and receive a refund for the shipping charges as they never actually completed the delivery service you paid for.

Thank you for your time.”
